Privacy Policy
The Cat Priestess is a small, independent project. Your privacy matters here — there are no accounts to create, and we never sell your information. This page explains, plainly, what is collected and why.
Analytics & cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how visitors find and use the site. Analytics cookies load only after you accept them in the cookie banner; if you decline, they are never set. Analytics data is anonymised where possible and is not used to identify you personally.
The Bastet chat
When you chat with Bastet, the messages you send are transmitted to a third-party AI provider (Google Gemini) so a reply can be generated. We do not store your conversations on our servers, and the chat resets when you leave. Please don't share sensitive personal, medical, legal, or financial details in the chat.
The contact form
If you send a message through the contact page, the name, email, and message you provide are delivered to us (via the form service FormSubmit) so we can reply. We use this only to respond to you.
Email newsletter
If you subscribe to “Letters from the Temple”, the email address you give us is stored in our database (hosted by Upstash / Vercel KV) together with the date you subscribed, so we can occasionally send you a message. We ask only for your email, never sell or share it, and use it only to send these letters. When we send them, delivery is handled by Resend. Every message includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time — once you do, your address is deleted from the list. You may also ask us to remove it by writing to usivaylo@gmail.com.
The communal bowl
The “Kibble” counter on the home page is a single anonymous number shared by all visitors — it records only a running total, never who added to it. Your personal Kibble tally is kept in your own browser’s local storage.
On your device only
Your cookie choice, your reading preferences, your Card-of-the-Day streak, and your personal Kibble tally are saved in your browser's local storage — on your device, never sent to us.
Third-party services
- Vercel — hosting.
- Upstash / Vercel KV — stores the newsletter list and the shared Kibble total.
- Resend — delivers newsletter emails, if you subscribe.
- Google Analytics — anonymous usage statistics (with consent).
- Google Gemini — powers the Bastet chat replies.
- FormSubmit — delivers contact-form messages.
- Ko-fi — if you leave an offering; their own privacy terms apply.
Each of these has its own privacy policy governing the data it handles.
Your choices
You can decline analytics cookies at any time, choose not to use the chat or contact form, and clear your browser's local storage to remove anything stored on your device. To ask a question about your data, write to usivaylo@gmail.com.
